REGULAR MONTHLY TRANSPORT RUN OFFERED ESSEX TO NORTHERN ENGLAND. Empty REGULAR MONTHLY TRANSPORT RUN OFFERED ESSEX TO NORTHERN ENGLAND.

Post by Goldie Sat May 30, 2009 5:55 am

From July I would like to make an once monthly SATURDAY transport offer to the rescue groups. I would, once a month, do a full run from M25/A12 up to the Manchester/Liverpool/Doncaster sort of area and back again. This would be at my own cost. I am hoping that this might make some of the poundies futures more certain. But perhaps the poundie rescuers could tell me if there is a preferred part of the month, i.e. do the pounds pts all month or is there a specific week they get serious about it.

I can sit a dog in the front in a harness and have two medium sized crates in the back, still have to buy one cage.

Of course what I am proposing might really be naive so please advise as you guys have the knowledge, I just have love of animals and a car (hatchback so acts like a van). Lauren

Goldie, I'm sure that rescues will certainly be queuing to fill up your car with grateful poundies.....such a good idea. I know that I would certainly use your service!!

Mel, Just need to work out what is the best time of month, so everyone knows it is happening, for instance if I made it, say, the 2nd Sat of each month, it might make things more simple. But it might be that the pounds have things they do at certain times of month so I just want to pick the right Saturday. Or should I just state the dates and book them in my diary. The reason I want to start in July is cos I am helping the chickens rescue this month? I suppose I would be like a motorway coach. ha ha.

Thanks Goldie, tbh, there is no better day....it would just be pot luck if a transport run needed doing on the weekend you were doing yours.....But it would certainly open up a lot of the southern rescues, which I'm sure that the northern rescues find difficult to get transport arranged to.
The pound don't seem to do certain things on certain days....it's as and when, if necessary...

Okay, moving on, taking into account previous commitments, I will book the following into my diary.

2nd Saturday in July
2nd Saturday in August
3rd Saturday in September

cannot seem to do the map thing, my suggestion was from Romford up M11 to Doncaster and on the way back across to Leicester and back to Essex, its about 8 hours driving so cannot do any more than that. can someone help me with the map?

RM3 8PG is beginning and end postcode but I don't know the northern bits, perhaps the ladies of the North can provide the approximates for Doncaster, Leicester, Luton, I think it must go through Northamptonshire if I go up the M11.

was wondering if you might consider taking caged animals too? As we have some girls that need to get down south (see my thread in transport requests) and was wondering if maybe you could take them some of the way on one of your return journies? Smile

Hiya Goldie

Lovely offer on regular transport runs, bless ya,
The dog pounds in yorkshire are as far up as wakefield., prob another half hour up more from Doncaster.

Just for reference for those that dont know: Marina huddersfield closed down feb09, Oakenshaw wakefield closed last week. Just one in wakefield doing most of Yorkshire contracts. Then there is sheff and doncaster in south yorkshire.

Are you driving a van or car?
Ive done a lot of runs in vans and my car, and have learnt as ive gone along, often the hard way LOL

Can pass on some info that i learned if ya like

Ok- in light of this Goldie- are you equipped with transport crates???

If will donate a crate to you for your transport runs- unfortunately it comes with a sticker saying - 'Team Koko Sponsor this crate' Smile

Team Koko is the team of Doglost helpers who recently helped to capture an extremely rare and valuable dog- called Koko.

I will provide small dog whih can double up for cats for you - if this is acceptable.

Hi Tracy, I have purchased a small crate and a medium crate for transport and have a doggie harness for front seat. So in essense I could take a small dog, a staff or bichon type and a collie/bullie in front seat in seatbelt doggie harness. So far I have only had up to two dogs at a time. What size is your one, I suppose it would be handy just in case, what size dog would go in it?

Bobbyb, that info above about pounds might be best displayed on a separate thread, it may not get seen by that many people on my thread. I have a car, a hatchback Ford Escort, but I have the backseats down like a van with windows. Mostly I do cat rescue and this car is perfect for this kind of work. I am slowly getting a new car with all the parts I am replacing so trying to hand on to this one as long as poss.
