Fostering

It's very easy to think "I could do that" without taking into account the problems which could arise..............some of the dogs needing a foster home have been with me and as such, I have a pretty good idea of what they're like..but other urgent cases may come straight from owners who haven't necessarily been entirely truthful about their little habbits. Alot of our dogs come straight from the pound, where they have NOT been assessed at all. Some of them are a complete doddle - but others may have separation anxiety which can manifest by barking, howling, soiling in the house or destructiveness.

Some may not get on with your own dogs at first, it's always best to introduce them to your dog(s) on neutral territory by firstly taking them for a walk together - a muzzle may be necessary to start off with - I will provide a crate if needed, but you will have to put in some training and TLC too.

Taking in a rescue dog is not an easy job, but if you are a boxer lover you will find it very rewarding to know that you have helped by offering a safe, comfortable haven after a very traumatic time. If you adopt you can only actually help one or two dogs but if you foster you can help many more!

There are three basic rules to settling a dog in swiftly: regular exercise, regular routine, regular meals all accompanied by loving human companionship.

We will provide 100% back up for our fosterers. Any vet bills will be covered by the rescue, in all cases, unless in an extreme emergency, fosterers MUST phone rescue first before taking the dog to the vets.

I don't want to put anyone off fostering as we desperately need fosterers in all areas but please think about it seriously before you offer as it doesn't do the dogs any good to be passed backwards and forwards over and over again.

If you feel like you can offer a foster home to a Boxer in need then please contact me, letting me know as much information about you and your situation as possible.
