Bird Johnson Associates have designed this new 14 storeys mixed use building for Kingston Upon Hull of shops, offices and 159 new apartments.

Called Trinity Quays and located at 60-71 High Street, the scheme consists of an oval tower element 56 metres tall with an attached lower-rise block, both standing above a basement level of parking.

Ground floor levels of the tower element are offices with a further three floors of similar accommodation above that. They are separated from the adjacent connected block by an atrium.

The tower element continues to rise above the offices it stands over with nine further floors of housing orientated to provide residents views of the Humber and the marine life centre, the Deep.

This neighbouring section has retail on its ground floor and an office floor immediately above. It is topped by an internal courtyard that is ringed by five floors of residential space that overlook this green space.

Visually the entire building is split into three sections. On the tower portions lowest floors where the offices are there is green copper with the residential levels above clad in zinc faced aluminium cladding. The lower-rise block has white stones and columns set in front of red brick.

Bird Johnson hope that their proposed building, with the addition of a telecommunications mast on top will act as a landmark for the prominent position it occupies overlooking Myton Bridge.
