Jake - JRT (Oldies Club) Jakecushion
Jake is an 11 year Jack Russell Terrier boy who is in an Oldies Club foster home in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. Jake’s previous owner had a change of circumstances meaning that she had to leave him for long hours on his own and it simply wasn’t fair on him.

Jake is a fine fellow who quickly settled at his foster home and he can be left alone for 3 or 4 hours.

He can be a little feisty but seems to be be OK with small dogs. He doesn’t like big ones though and will pull on the lead to get to them! He has lived with a cat in the past but he will chase cats out of the garden so would need very careful introductions to cats. Jake could live with older children but younger ones would probably be too much for him.

Lively Jake enjoys his walks and enthusiastically charges ahead on the extending lead for the first 10/15 minutes. He then settles down to walking and sniffing. He seems to get tired after 30/40 minutes. His foster carer has not let him off lead as she lives near a lake and he is very keen to try to get at the swans etc! Jake seems to be a bit deaf, so onlead walks are probably the best option for him.

Jake isn’t a good traveller in the car - in his harness he squirms around and gets tied up in the seat belt - so he probably wouldn’t be suitable for an owner that wanted to take their dog on lots of car journeys. He would probably be best transported in a dog car cage.

Jake loves playing with soft toys and his ball on a string. He’ll make a lovely companion for someone as he likes to sit beside his foster carer in the evenings and sleeps beside her bed. However he is strong on the lead so his new owner will need to be quite strong. He’ll enjoy having a nice garden to explore too.

Jake is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated. At his vet-check he was found to have a long-standing ear problem, caused by ear mites, for which he has been prescribed drops. He shakes his head violently occasionally because of this.

His foster carer has been home cooking for Jake and he has enjoyed this spoiling immensely! He is very partial to sardines or tuna for breakfast! His foster carer tells us that she will miss Jake very much.
