Darling Dotty. Young staffy X whippet(?) PICT0029-1
This is Dotty, she looks like a Staffy x whippet and appears to have had a hard life up till now. She is an energetic dog but she's only young, equally she'd like to sit on your lap and have cuddles for as long as you can give them. She hasn't had much training but walks very nicely on a harness and keeps looking back to check that you're still there and that she is allowed to do what she's doing. She likes her treats and is so willing to please, she also has a wonderful singing voice! Can you give Dotty some TLC? Ok, she's a little thin, has sore skin at the moment and has some scarring on her face, but don't let that put you off....... She really is a beautiful girl who gets on with some dogs and might like to live with an older male dog.

Here is an update from her foster carer (23/3/09)
Dotty is doing great in the house, and she’s really settling in well. She loves to chill out on the couch and rest, and really enjoys some TLC, she enjoys her walks, and rests most of the time, it’s nice to see her confidence coming on well. She’s generally good in the house, she does need a bit of work with jumping up at the kitchen worktop if no one’s is in there. But she’s starting to get the idea of the down command and is much better. Going to do some work on the food she’s a bit keen if it’s on the floor. She’s good when were eating at the table, she’ll quietly sit down and dribble.

She doing well on a night, separation anxiety is a lot better, last night she whimpered very quietly three times, and then settled. We have not been making a fuss when entering and leaving the house, and she’s happy to settle without following any of us unless there’s food about. She has been very clean in the house and hasn’t soiled once. She hasn’t chewed any belongings or furniture when left alone. I left her in the garden today with the door open while I cleaned the car out, she ended up settling in the porch.

She’s met my nieces and nephew, all teenagers and she has been great with them, dotty has shown no signs of aggression at all with anyone and is so affectionate towards everyone she has met.

Dotty is doing well on her walks, everyone she passes, she wags her tail at, Passed many dog walkers, she hasn’t shown any sign of aggression towards the other dogs, a couple have barked at her and she did bark back. She is walking a lot better by my side using treats, to help with this, and she is very good waiting at junctions and passing cars. She does pull a bit if she gets exited, or if it’s a busy environment. She is a bit scared of horses if they are near, overall I am pleased with her progress on walks.

After everything Dottie has been through, she is one of the most placid dogs I’ve had the pleasure of looking after.

Whoever takes on this little girl - will get a wonderful dog. She has a lovely friendly nature - seems fine around other dogs she has met so far and very friendly to all the people and children she has come in contact with.

For more information about Dotty please email rainrescue@msn.com
telling us why you would like to adopt Dotty - what experience you have with dogs - who lives in your family at the moment (both people and other pets) and lots of info about your home and garden and your working commitment - just so we can work out if you are a good match for Dotty. Alternatively call 07971 898632 or 07946618011

She is a credit to you and her foster dad. What a difference to the scared pathetic little thing so close to death that we met not even a month ago. It just shows you doesn't it. A few baths, trip to the vets, good food and tlc - allows the dog to come through.

I so hope we can manage to find a good home for this lucky little lady

well done

Just wanted to add that Dotty will be speyed before being rehomed. The vets will not spay at the moment due to her skin being sore, if the vet doesn't recommend speying before homing then it will be in the rehoming contract and followed up.

Had an update today from Dotty's foster daddy..........I'm hoping a fail is coming up!!! She really is a different dog to the one we found in the pound. It just goes to show that most of these dogs just need a chance and someone to give them some time and training. I'm so proud of Dotty and her temporary daddy, Chris.

She’s looking a lot healthier and is doing great with her weight gain, her coat has a nice shine too. She still looks a bit sore around her paws, but the swelling has gone down a lot, and looks much better. Her ear is healing up nicely too.

Had some excellent walks with dotty and isn’t pulling much at all. She hasn’t been aggressive towards any other dogs on the walks. Dotty has to be one of the friendliest dogs I have known, still wagging her tail at everyone she passes, and is really good
When meeting people for the first time.

Dotty is doing really well on a night, she is settling well in the porch, and is also doing well when left on her own. She’s done just over two hours so far, and hasn’t been destructive. So I’m well pleased.

Dotty is still recovering and does rest a lot of the time, but it’s good to see her energy levels picking up. She’s getting a nice bounce about herself.

Dotty is doing really well with her training and is very bright. She loves her food, so this really helps, she’s mastered the sit command and what’s this, and is also doing good with leave it, stay, down, and steady. She doesn’t rush into the kitchen now when the door is open and is a lot better when food is about, though she does need some more work on these areas.

Dotty travels really well in the car and is doing great, she will either sit down or have a sleep, she’s good when left, paying for petrol or going into a shop, she doesn’t bark at people or dogs passing by.

Dotty’s doing excellent, on all aspects, whoever takes Dotty, is going to have one gem of a girl. If I didn’t foster, she’d be living at ours permanent.
