Editing??
Is there a way to make it possible for people to edit threads, as it is getting silly having to ask other people to edit my threads, all other forums seem to have this facility?
Is there a reason why we cant edit our threads?
thankyou sophie (its jsut having to tye to ask for a thread to be editing is taking up time and filling the threads up with requests, and giving mods even more work!)

Re: Editing??
Hey Sophie, I often keep thinking you and I think alike lol
I just emailed Julie to ask and complain aboutbthis very thing.
So Admin can we please be able to be allowed to edit our own posts.
https://rescuehelpersunite.forumotion.com/foster-placements-availiable-f149/dorset-bournemouth-bh10-short-term-emergency-foster-space-t7589.htm
I have wanted to add to my fostering offer template and keep thinking grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr can't grrrrrrrrrrr
So can we be allowed to edit our posts as it is a pain.
You could create a user group and the members would need to apply and be approved to be able to have the right to edit their own posts. That way you can allow members who you know will not abuse it and it not be a function for all membership which is handy incase a new memebr joins just to throw mud at someone - yes people do this then edit their posts and then the mods spend half the night and the next day dealing with the kick off - I really don;t miss that forum I used to mod at all hee hee

Re: Editing??
The time scale for editing threads is 5 mins, this isnt going to be changing.
When RHU was first set up some 11th months ago this facility was abused, sadly.
A member who posts a thread can edit the title and description for whatever time scale and this is all that is needed.
Please if you need to alter threads do so by means of contacting staff which we will continue to adhere to

Re: Editing??
Okay Jules - notice your in red now
I do not agree with this ruling at all as the usergroup would be the answer as that would prevent any such abuse from ever occuring, ever again.
But I guess like in life it is always the few that spoil it for the many.
Many thanks for looking into it for us anyway.

Re: Editing??
grr that is soo anoying, this is a great site though. Just the one that doesnt allow editing , it just takes up more time to ask someone to change something, that then takes more time for it to be changes, as we know time isnt on our hands
nevermind

Re: Editing??
You only have a few minutes to edit it no good when you want to add to your post a day later or to update details as we all know people do not read the whole thread.
I have had messages asking if I can take a dog when I have had to say sorry my thread does say I have no vacancies and they say no it says you do grrrrrn people often do not read down

Re: Editing??
I think the way to deal with folks who abuse the system is to ban them. We are, or should be, all grown ups and what lengths are we expected to go to just to allow the childish and the trolls to be included?
I find it frustrating that I can't edit my database details as my circumstances change rapidly. I feel bad at having to say no to appeals for help when I get PMs.

Re: Editing??
but thats the point though, it just seems a bit silly, maybe we can set up a poll and see what the majority opinion is? if people abuse it then ban them from the site?
But i dont see how it can be really, like i say all the other forums about you can edit whenever you feel, would it be possible to have a poll? maybe then send that to kathryn she if she will change her mind?

Thats the problem we are asking to be rectified as it is a total pain in the preverbial.
Re: Editing??
Is it possible to give editing permissions just to certain members? I assume they would have to be put in to a special group with different permissions, but their colours could stay the same so no-one would be able to tell the difference?
Re: Editing??
I have to agree with what has been written here. I posted a while ago after finding rescue places for dogs on the Urgent Section. When I contacted the rescue's with the good news the dogs were (thankfully) already safe.
The post had been updated but when it stands at 5 pages long, I have to admit, I don't always look right the way through. It was much simpler when the original post could be updated and edited to say the status of the dogs.
