Yes, you can block unwanted pms by clicking on your own name, then add members to your foe list. Hope this helps.

I really hope that people don't start doing this in droves as rescues may want to get in touch asking if you can help them with something.

Instead of this can admin not stop mass pms going out to all members. There must be a switch to turn this off surely.

we are looking into doing it so only staff members can pm members and hopefully members can pm staff.

this will mean message for members for member to member chat.

PM's how to block ... Empty Sorry - a rant to complaining members

Post by Guest Wed Aug 20, 2008 10:45 am

I am in the middle of PMs to rescues regarding foster placements. I'm sorry but I wont discuss private issues and put contact details on here for all members to see. I think the way people have over-reacted to one blinking pm today is rather pathetic.

People need to use this tool. It is used responsibly hundreds of times every day... and because a minority of members (may of whom it seems don't even frequent the site often) throw their toys out of the pram the frequent members who rely on the ability to PM in order to co-ordinate rescues (WHICH IS WHY WE ARE HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE) are being punished!?!?*

Everyone grow up. I don't know about everyone else, but the dozens of threads whinging about it are both far more harmful and significantly more irritating than one s*dding PM, for goodness sake!! At least with a PM I can delete it when I get fed up of reading it! Rolling Eyes

If you have a problem with PMs then go to your Profile (link at the top of the page) set it so that you don't get alerts and if you do happen to get something that doesn't concern you then ignore it. :S

thanks

* Not Kathryn's fault as she is obviously trying her best to respond to the petty complaints she's been getting, I'm sure.

Please don't stop PM's. I find it invaluable when looking for volunteers and for posting the transport info once sorted.

Oooh, I just had to send a reply back to a rescue rep and it went through (Smile)... does this mean:
* we can still send PMs
* we can only send PMs to rescues
* we can only send replies to PMs we've already received
* there is a glitch in the Matrix? Wink
