Jakes Appeal - Ear Opperation
Please meet Jake, a beautiful 5 year old german shepherd. He was placed on preloved by his previous owners, so LinzC contacted them on my behalf, offering advice on responsible rehoming and any practical help if we could give it. The owners phoned me and told me of an ear infection that he has, so I agreed to take him to ensure he saw a vet. A very kind couple offered to foster Jake and even pick him up, hours from their home.. but nothing could have prepared them for what they saw when they got there. This poor boy was underweight, stank to high heaven, riddled with fleas.. but his ears were so badly infected that one of them was full of sticky, smelly, green gunge. He was violently shaking his head constantly to try and ease his pain.
I should explain about jakes history - the owners he was collected from had him for 7 months. I was told his ear infection had been going on much longer than that - the vet feels it could be years since he saw a vet. Jake has half an ear, the vet has said the way it has healed and the tear is consistent with being ripped off. Because it was not a clean wound, the infection broke out and his half ear didn't heal properly - restricting ventilation to his ear canal.
Jake has been on ear drops now and is doing brilliantly, but he needs an opperation to give him the best chance. Jake needs the top of his half ear cut, so it can heal properly and allow ventilation to his ear so that he doesn't get infected again. The bills so far are at £110 for the initial visits and ear drops, the next visit for his opperation has been quoted at £368.00. We are expecting his final bill to be over £500.
I know it's the wrong time of year to ask for funds, but this boy has been suffering for a long, long time.. it's about time we fixed him and see him pain free in the new year!
If anyone is able to donate just a little bit toward Jakes bill I would be ever so grateful for any help please pm me if you are able to help xx
Better pictures to come soon..

Re: Jakes Appeal - Ear Opperation
Has Jake had his opperation yet as i noticed on the post dated 28 Dec he was due to have it. As i was wondering if you had enough funds to cover it yet or if you needed more.

Claire.
I am a little confused, you said you have not been online much in the last week yet when i look at your posts you have been online every day except thursday, I can only assume it takes alot of your time looking after Jake.

Re: Jakes Appeal - Ear Opperation
I have to say that it saddens me to read posts on here and another forum by a member that seems to go all out to publicly humiliate and criticise WARAS for no need at all.
Claire has done fabulous things for this dog. If she had not stepped in where would this dog be now - golden needle I expect!!!
Well done Claire
Could you update us though on what the total for the op was and how much is needed. I personally would like to donate despite our recent vet bills.
